WE NEED 40 MILLION DOLLARS

WE NEED 40 MILLION DOLLARS

For many years we regularly travel the country creating capital campaign fundraising videos for YMCA’s, library’s and other nonprofits.  Each one was unique and nearly every one we did reached the fundraising goal ranging from 5 to 15 million dollars.  One day we got a call from Oklahoma State University.  They were renovating the historic Student Union building from and needed to raise 40 million.  We had a lot of experience in this area but this was a big ask.  We filmed the video based on our experience with large organizations, starting with a brief history of the Union, and what it meant to students and alumni.  Then we built a case study on why this historic building needed to be renovated.  Priorities of the renovation included, addressing the aging infrastructure, improving and enhancing student spaces, addressing traffic flow, updating meeting rooms and offices and maintaining the building’s legacy.  The campaign was a success!  KJ FILMWORKS – VIDEO PRODUCTION FOR INDUSTRIES OF ANY SIZE. MAJOR HIRING EVENT

MAJOR HIRING EVENT

On numerous occasions our clients have needed to hire a large group of new employees.  HR was spending several hours with each new employee moving them through the qualification and orientation process. Our job was to streamline this process with 2 videos.  The first was a custom qualifying video that educated the applicant about the company and what the job entailed. The second was the custom new hire orientation video.  This informed the new employee about the requirements of the company, safety procedures, where things were, and what to do in an emergency situation. This greatly sped up the employee hire-on process, and reduced HR’s work load.

PREQUALIFYING POTENTIAL EMPLOYEES

PREQUALIFYING POTENTIAL EMPLOYEES

One of our clients, a national food brand company, needed to hire several hundred new employees.  The turnover was high because the employee, once hired, was not prepared for the conditions of their work environment. Their conditions included working in a freezer, wearing PPE, heavy lifting, and other job descriptions. We produced a custom “Day in the Life” video that detailed what it was like to work in the new facility.  All applicants were required to watch the video.  Turnover fell significantly lower after putting the custom video in place.

TRUCK DRIVING TRAINING IN MUD

TRUCK DRIVING TRAINING IN MUD

The Oklahoma oilfield offers some unique challenges for 18 wheeler trucks when operating on dirt roads. When these roads become wet with rain or snow, heavy trucks get bogged down in the mud and they get stuck. Often the driver would have to call someone to pull them out.  Truck manufacturer Freightliner, along with a national transportation company, asked if KJ FilmWorks could develop a video that would help with driver training.  These trucks are very high tech and can handle most situations but special training is required. KJ Filmworks took a new Freightliner truck through several scenarios in the deep mud.  We demonstrated how the truck reacted in different situations, and how to set-up the truck to deal with each type of road condition.  Using many cameras mounted all over the vehicle, we could show what was happening.  The video was a success, saving the operators a great deal of time and money.  The savings came from not having the expense of hiring someone to pull the truck from the mud and reduced maintenance costs from damaged trucks.

40 PLANTS AND 6 OFFSHORE PLATFORM VIDEOS

40 PLANTS AND 6 OFFSHORE PLATFORM VIDEOS

The challenge was to quickly create custom contractor orientation videos for 40 natural gas processing plants all over the USA, as well as 6 offshore gas platforms, in English and Spanish. Using our template, our writer/producer created the scripts, storyboards, shot lists and scheduled a month-long video production timetable.  The KJ FilmWorks crew traveled to every one of the locations, flew in helicopters to the offshore facilities, and filmed all the footage needed to feature each site-specific location. We saved them thousands of dollars producing all of the videos at the same time. All of the videos carried a consistent message in 2 languages, and were delivered on time, and on budget.

ORIENTATION BEFORE ARRIVAL

ORIENTATION BEFORE ARRIVAL

Many of our industrial clients require that anyone that enters the facility must go through an orientation process.  Several of our clients have expressed concern that a great deal of time is spent when a contractor, visitor or new employee arrives at their site.  This requires staff time, ranging from one to several hours. But it is deeper than just staff time.  When a contractor arrives at your site they are on the clock.  You are paying them to sit through orientation. The solution: KJ created custom site-specific orientation videos that were accessible from their company E-Learning systems.  When a new contractor or visitor is scheduled to arrive, they are sent a link a few days before.  They watch the videos, take the test and arrive at your location ready to work.

SAVING MONEY AND TIME WITH CUSTOM ORIENTATION VIDEOS

SAVING MONEY AND TIME WITH CUSTOM ORIENTATION VIDEOS

This case study highlights two of our clients who saved money and time with custom-made training videos.  One is a regional electric generating operation with several facilities.  And the other is a large natural gas plant company with more than 40 facilities. The challenge was both had a high volume of contractors that required orientation on an annual basis.  Both found that a great deal of office productivity was lost running multiple crews through orientation each week and found the orientation process was not consistent. Now contractors watch a companywide orientation that features their employees, their facilities, and visually showcases exactly what is required while on property.  This created a uniform look and a consistent message throughout their companies.

MACGYVER FILM MAKING

MACGYVER FILM MAKING

Last week one of our long time car dealer clients in Stillwater wanted to do a TV commercial while driving a car.  This is an easy task if you have a giant budget, but of course we didn’t.  This involved a suction cup, a flex arm thing, a wireless microphone, and a GoPro camera.  After some rigging and testing, Jack scrunched himself into a ball on the back seat floor so he could monitor the audio, make sure the camera was working properly, and to time it to fit a 30 second commercial.  We wired up Juergen Janzen, owner of Janzen Toyota, and headed down the road with the camera rolling.  After a few bloopers, we got a good take and headed back to the dealership.  At this point, Jack had been wadded up in the back seat for about 20 minutes and needed help unraveling his legs.  After he was able to walk again, we checked the footage, and took all of the camera gear off the car.  So, the point of this story is, if you are creative and use the right gear, you can accomplish some really nice stuff with a reasonable cost.   You can check out the finished TV spot here. https://youtu.be/OuWumvbq3A4 KJ FILMWORKS – VIDEO PRODUCTION FOR INDUSTRIES OF ANY SIZE. CONCESSION POLICE

CONCESSION POLICE

A few years ago, the 89er Theater in Kingfisher, Oklahoma wanted a video shown before the movie about why it’s not ok to sneak your own food into the movie theater. We had a production team meeting and our executive producer, Renee Settlemires came up with a crazy idea to create “The Concession Police”.  She wrote a script and assembled the cast.   We rented an old police car, made some concession police uniforms and scheduled the production day.   The plot of the story was that the concession police got a call that someone had smuggled some food into the theater.  The police responded, searched the building, and found the perpetrators with a large quantity of popcorn, snacks and drinks.  The funny thing is we filmed this 11 years ago and it is still running at the theater before each movie.    KJ FILMWORKS – VIDEO PRODUCTION FOR INDUSTRIES OF ANY SIZE. WORKING WITH GARTH BROOKS

WORKING WITH GARTH BROOKS

A few years ago, a good friend also in the media business called and said, “I’m going to the Garth Brooks press conference in Tulsa, do you want to go?”  Well that didn’t take much thinking!  This was the kickoff event for his coming out of retirement world tour.  We were one of the first ones at the venue and set up our gear.  Before long, there were about 30 TV stations, photographers and writers lined up to see Garth.  We were all given numbers so we could talk to him in order.  Soon, Garth and his wife Trisha arrived, and started visiting with the media.  This is our second time working with Garth.  What sets him apart is that there is no barrier between him and the media.  Garth and Trisha get toe to toe with you and answer every question truthfully, and they treat you like you’re their friend.  He made sure everyone there got a t-shirt and tickets to the concert that night.  Garth and Trisha are class acts.  KJ FILMWORKS – VIDEO PRODUCTION FOR INDUSTRIES OF ANY SIZE.
